How do I boost my self-esteem/confidence?

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Hi, im always struggling to stay positive and I just can’t seem to have much confidence in myself.

I dont know if anyone has ever seen that tv show Scrubs, but im kinda goin through what Elliot went through.

What are ways i can boost my self-esteem so that I can feel better about myself??

Its hard to look at the positive things about yourself and its so much easier to pinpoint the faults, but try to think of the good things you are able to do, maybe some things you could do that others can’t, that’s something you should be proud of. Or even finishing an essay when you felt like slacking off, thats another achievement you should be proud of. Try running 4 laps it helps you boost your energy

Whats the best way to build self confidence as and adult? Women Answers only!?

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

How can one gain confidence as an adult?….. when they have gone a life time without it. Not allow yourself to be a push over. Be tough & develop personality all at the same time. My moods are sometimes high and then low. Sometimes I get so sad I want to commit suicide. But I know I cant. If I had confidence and was tough. I’d be able to survive anything. Are their classes or exercises u can do to help build confidence………….I always fail because i have no confidence in myself, im full of self doubt………….I want to end this.

If you can’t afford a therapist, go to the book store, they have hundreds of self help books, I bet you can find one that is describing exactly how your feeling. However there are side effects: they have broadened my vocabulary, helped my memory, helped me focus, and helped me find intention and a purpose. u can too.

I have to say that dating may be the worst thing for you.

Focus on yourself, everything else is a distraction, and will take energy away from you and your healing.

In a month you’ll feel stronger in 6 months then in a year if you really commit, you will be a different person,.

Let me say… Tai Chi has been such a confidence builder for me it’s one of the best things I have ever given myself. Ask about the Taoist way if you decide to go!

Good Luck! May D 4’s B w/ U!

Is there a difference between ’self confidence’ and ’self esteem’?

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

And if so, what is it?

Self confidence is what you think about yourself, self esteem is the ideas have about yourself

Examples
self confidence- I can do this, or I can’t do this
self esteem- I’m so cool, or I’m a loser

How do u build self confidence when your ugly?

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

i know a good start would be not reffering to yourself as ugly but cmon for practical purposes, do u have any tips or steps?

Self-confidence is not ONLY about looks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! It also comes from doing good things – for yourself and others. It’s the feeling you have when you help someone, or do something important, or something to benefit others, etc… You can volunteer in a hospital, or learn to play a musical instrument(I play piano) or do anything that you will feel better about yourself for doing. It is a personal thing for each of us – so find your way! And, by the way, you’re right-stop referring to yourself as ugly-you probably have several good qualities, so make the most of those! Go out and get a make-over, a new style of clothing, etc..all these things will help you Build self-confidence. It does not happen over night! Be kind to yourself & others will see the kindness, too! LOL

The business coaching service is new to the corporate world and it facilitates behavioral and psychological changes in the executives, enhancing their managerial skills. Owing to the increasing demands and pressures of the modern business environment, the demand of executive coaching is also rising.

Types of coaching services for the corporate world:

There are various coaching services that contribute to the development of the business world. They are as follows:

Coaching services to improve skills: Coaching service for the development of skills is designed to enable the executives to learn certain abilities and provide them with several perspectives, concerning management and relationship coordination. These services provide the executives with the ability to handle the new responsibilities, with the implementation of innovative tactics. In addition, it helps refine the existing proficiency of the employees.

Coaching services for overall development: These coaching services aim at enhancing the competencies of the individuals working in the corporate world. The service helps an individual to identify his hidden talents and modify them, according to the needs of the new profile and the crucial challenges that come along with it. In addition to this, it involves refining their speaking and listening skills, cultivating strategic planning, enhancing their time management skills and encouraging participation among subordinates. It not only trains executives to handle newer profiles, by broadening their technical know how, but also enables them to cultivate their interpersonal competence.

Coaching services to enhance performance: Personal ability and the feedback received from the group, combines to form the parameters to evaluate the performance of an executive. Being conversant with the essential technical or academic skills is not enough to execute the work assigned. You need to maintain a positive rapport with teammates and other staff within the organization. Performance is not evaluated on an individual basis, but also the overall performance of the team. Team spirit, rate of work completion and the collective effort of the team, form the key factors that determine the effectiveness of the employees and that of the organization.

Behavioral coaching services: More often than not, when an employee starts climbing the corporate ladder he is often considered arrogant by team members. This perception necessitates the executives to be brave enough to tackle the unnecessary criticism and win over the confidence and support of their colleagues. It is important to build a favorable rapport and assure the employees of their loyalty. These executives need behavioral coaching, to help them plan effective strategies to win over their subordinate staff. It calls for a considerable amount of emotional and mental capability to handle new challenging responsibilities. The program revolves around communication and effective leadership skills.

Transformational coaching services: The transformational coaching services are more personal in their approach, as compared to other coaching services. It analyzes the behavioral aspects of the trainees that hinder their effectiveness. It also evaluates the current behavioral patterns and abilities of employees and designs methodical strategy to improve them at the same time. The coach determines the limiting behavior pattern of the employee and formulates a plan to overcome the drawbacks in an effective manner.

after being knocked down alot how do you rebuild your confidence and self-esteem?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I feel insecure and like a doormat.I’ve been analyzed and criticized for 20 years.I’ve been made to feel stupid. How do you rebuild your confidence and self-esteem?

·The loss of self-esteem has affected many people due to different unhappy events that triggered sadness in their lives
·Divorce is one of the life changing experiences that can bring much grief and depression.
·The first step is to know whom you can count on and whom you can’t.
·Once you have found support and strength, you will feel the need to make some drastic changes.
·If you have never had short hair, you may want to try it.
·You don’t have to be someone that you aren’t.
·One Small Step to Take Control, Turn Life Around and Live Again
oIt is understandable for anyone to suffer from a lack of confidence at some point in his or her life.
oMaybe a long-term relationship breakdown has eroded the feeling of self worth, or confidence might have been crushed by a health problem.
oMost people want to find a way out of the rut they are in, and very often they know what needs to be done, but already suffering from a lack of confidence the journey back to a better life, can seem too monumental to undertake.
· Take Control and Change your life
oNo matter how insignificant it may seem, achieving the smallest goal will start to rebuild confidence and help regain self-esteem.
oIf someone can carry out a small task successfully, it is the start of being able to turn life around.
oJohn Francome, the famous British jockey, known for his ability to squeeze everything from a horse, once said that the first time a thoroughbred goes to the track, it is essential not to drive it too hard to the finish or the horse will associate the racecourse with a negative experience.
oLikewise, if a person takes on a task that is too hard, even if they succeed the first time, the sheer effort involved would deter them from further attempts.
·Build Confidence, Self Esteem and Live Again
oWhatever task a person chooses, the undertaking of it only has one purpose.
oIt could be as simple washing the car rather than taking it to the car wash.
oYou will have successfully carried out a task of your own choice, and will have succeeded in achieving a goal.
oThe reason for doing so is to train the mind to expect success.
oAchieving results in small tasks first, is a vital process to building enough confidence to positively undertake more major goals.
oIf a person can succeed in a small goal, then take on another, and another, all the time confidence is growing.
oSlowly but surely learn to live again – take one small step to take control and turn your life around.
·Nobody can hurt you without your consent
oThere are many instances in life where your confidence is hit hard.
oThere can be many reasons that your self-confidence is hurt.
·Look at the brighter side
oIf you have been laid off, it would be okay to feel bad about it for a day or two but not more than that.
·Stop comparing yourself with other people
oWhen we have a problem we always question God – “Oh, God, why me?”
·Are you standing in your own way
oYou will notice that shadows are caused when we stand in the path of sunshine.
·Get started on creating an Action Plan to Rebuild Your Self-Esteem.
·Using the word action is laying the groundwork for getting past the planning stage and starting of with an action.
·The reasons for your low self-esteem could be many things how you were raised, events in your life where you got harshly treated, not being happy with your appearance too fat too skinny etc.
·Create an action plan to rebuild your self-esteem
o1) Define what most causes you to have this low opinion of yourself.
§Write it down.
o2) Start an Action – You want to change your mindset from can’t to can.
§It’s meeting head on what the cause of your low self-esteem is.
§Now when creating an action it does not have to be a major step all at once.
§The point is without taking some kind of action a plan is worthless.
o3) Pat yourself on the back for even the smallest Action.
§Remember action creates reaction when your family, friends, co workers whomever sees the new you the positive feed back will amaze you.
§So it’s time for ACTION

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I am confident around people that I know really well… but I find it hard to comunicate with people that I don’t know or are a lot older than me, and I see some people who are just brilliant and talking and always manage to find something to talk about were as I find that quite hard at times sometimes in fear of saying something stupid I supose. But this could have something to do with my self confidence how can I build it up and become confident in talking to all people?? thanks x

well just put your self out there and act like its no big deal and wat ever you do do NOT show people that you are scared or worried. every morning when you wake up tell your self……."i am going to make the day great!" " or i am going to do something new and interesting today" or simply"i AM who i want to be!"

how is a best role model for a young woman for building a self confidence?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

in my life coach task it ask to choose a positive role models. Don’t know who though. any suggestion and why?

Honestly, I think Oprah is a great role model for anyone. She’s truly empathetic and does a lot of charitable things. She doesn’t let money and power get to her. That is not to say she is without faults, but I think she is a good role model nonetheless.

I disagree with Hillary Clinton as a role model. I’m against any politician in general being a role model, but particularly not one who so animately uses negative campaigns and seems so self-absorbed.

Didn’t Richie have a problem with cocaine? I dunno if she overcame it, and that’s why that person listed her as a role model. I dunno the other person.

Become a Certified Success in the World of Business and Finance

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

There’s no denying that today’s business and finance sectors
have become more competitive than ever. It has become critical
for professionals to not only have the necessary skills to
succeed, but the certification employers are looking for.

This challenging environment has always posed a potential
problem for the busy professional trying to take a step up in
the business world, or transition into another career in the
sector. A full-time return to school to enhance their knowledge
and credentials means leaving their current position behind –
and investing substantial time and money pursuing an additional
degree.

For these individuals, Kaplan University’s online Business and
Finance Sector programs may be the ultimate solution to reaching
their goals. With deep roots in higher education that date back
to 1937, and a flexible schedule that lets you study anytime,
anyplace, Kaplan University’s certificates in Financial
Planning, Risk Management, Project Management and Executive
Coaching can be completed in as little as 12 months – without
interfering with your job or disrupting your life.

“The fields of financial planning, project management, risk
management, and executive coaching are experiencing exponential
growth, providing a wealth of opportunities in the evolving
business world,” said Kristina Belanger, Dean, Kaplan
University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
“These rewarding occupations are leading choices for individuals
seeking professional growth and diversity, and Kaplan
University’s online, self-paced programs provide busy
professionals with a flexible learning environment to gain
competitive skills for more rapid career advancement.”

Financial planning, for starters, has been repeatedly described
as among the most prestigious of modern professions – supported
by statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor forecasting job
increases of more than 34 percent by 2012. The same reliable
source states an average annual salary of $79,990 for personal
financial advisors in 2003. Not only that, but proven expertise
in the field can allow you the option of either working for
yourself or a world of high-end firms throughout the country.

To win the trust of potential employers or prospective clients
in the business world, however, you’ll need applicable skills
and proper certification. That’s where Kaplan University’s
Certificate in Financial Planning comes in. The course teaches
you all you need to know about analyzing a client’s financial
situation – strengths, weaknesses, and how to best achieve their
financial goals. From savvy tax management to smart investing to
retirement planning, you’ll be steeped in all the crucial
information necessary to be a certified financial planner.

Project management is another area where Kaplan University can
help open doors to a variety of new career opportunities.
Learning how to increase a company’s chances for maximum profits
by optimizing time, money, and personnel, is a skill respected
by organizations everywhere. From business to information
technology to real estate and more, project managers may earn
from $60,000 to $100,000 annually on average, with senior
project managers holding yearly salaries ranging from $70,000 to
$150,000.

As a Project Manager you’ll be respected in your industry as
someone capable of leading important initiatives as you advance
your career. You’ll be the one CEOs and company presidents turn
to as a leader for their organization’s most critical
undertakings. Perhaps best of all is the universal applicability
of the knowledge and skills that Kaplan University can provide
with this program – which can be put to use for the rest of your
working life, regardless of the direction your career may take.

If you hold at least an associate’s degree, and have an interest
or background in such fields as business, human resources,
accounting or finance, Kaplan University’s Certificate in Risk
Management can help you earn from $66,000 to $110,000 annually.
Risk control, loss prevention, and adhering to today’s stricter
compliancy laws have made risk management an essential aspect of
doing business in today’s corporate world. A Certificate in Risk
Management from Kaplan University will give employers the
confidence that you know your stuff inside and out.

Risk managers recognize and review an organization’s loss
exposures including property, liability, personnel, and net
income in order to promote growth through profit, continuous
operation, and stable earnings. Kaplan University will teach you
all this, plus other critical skills such as enterprise risk
management (ERM) and creating risk management programs. You can
then apply your knowledge and skills toward pursuing a top
position with a number of companies, or entering the field as an
independent consultant. Like Kaplan University’s other
certificates, this program can be completed in as little as 12
months, learning at your own convenience.

Executive coaching is now a major growth industry. More and more
businesses are employing executive coaches to instill leadership
development among managers and executives to bolster an
environment of ongoing organizational change. Executive coaches
thoughtfully listen — and ask the right questions — to assess
an individual’s attributes, needs, and coachability. Kaplan
University’s Executive Coaching Certificate offers the necessary
skills for observing, recognizing, and intervening for full
business effectiveness. It can teach you to teach leaders to
better comprehend organizational dynamics and to climb up the
corporate ladder.

In a recent summary poll of executive coaches, 65 percent of
respondents reported yearly compensation of $85,000 or more.
Opportunities exist in a number of business environments,
including corporations, non-profits, government offices, and
independent consulting.

Whether you study financial planning, project management, risk
management, or executive coaching, you’ll have the chance to
expand your employment and career opportunities. Through
developing your professional acumen and abilities you will be
able to explore new job prospects with virtually any
professional industry where business skills are valued. Should
you choose to go into the market on your own, you’ll hold the
certification and skills needed to win over prospective clients.

Perhaps best of all, Kaplan University online programs allow you
the flexibility and convenience to quickly improve your skills
and resume without compromising your current daily life. For the
working professional striving to reach their career goals, this
might be an ideal option.
