You've already begun. You've asked others! 1000's of books exist.
The best, though, is prayer. Plain old fashioned prayer -- straight and honest from your very own heart. Tell God how you feel and ask Him for some help. Even ask for others to be sent into your life (in person) and
give you messages about it AND for you to RECOGNIZE the messages.
I hate to say it, but when I do wrong things, I tend to fail more, etc. and my self-esteem etc starts going down. So START working on doing GOOD
and serving OTHER people by being nicer, friendlier, and helpful. Just try it.
Just live a little more thankfully and stay a little closer to HIm. You'll just be
amazed at how good you'll start to feel.
References :
Grand Dad

I was a nervous hopeless wreck until I was about 16. I'd been told most of my life that I was bloody useless and wouldn't amount to anything. I would stop midstride because I thought i was walking funny and then I'd forget how to walk so i'd do this very odd step and look, step and look thing to check my gait.

i didn't believe i would ever be able to work because i was so terrified that the thought of it would send me into a panic

the person whose opinion mattered said it just once too often and I still don't know why but suddenly i thought - GRRRR I'M GOING TO PROVE YOU WRONG

at the time it was more about her than it was about me so i was completely stunned when i did really really well because i honestly didn't believe i had it in me.

and this is the thing. if you don't have need to prove someone else wrong - then prove yourself wrong. the very thing you don't believe you can do - however small ...

(another one of mine was how am i going to keep a home because i don't know how to do laundry - yup that kept me awake at night too)

try it. start small because the successes are small but they give you the courage to try something bigger.

It took me a long time to identify the misery I was feeling after my divorce. I met a woman pretty much in the same boat as myself. A large part of our early relationship focused on ravaged souls and the desire to be validated and approved of as well as filling that emptiness that was so pervasive. We talked a lot.

We fell in love and she helped me raise my self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. She only helped~~I had to do the work. Unconditional love is essential, but I had yet to put it all together. It took time, effort, study, struggle, and still "undiscovered countries" to discover and find sources of renewal.

Self help was the key through the works of Marianne Williamson. Read "A Woman's Worth" and "A Return to Love", for starters. They transformed me and ironically, the healing actually was initiated by my ex-wife.
References :
I've been there too and i bet any person would also have especially after something bad happened.
I guess you can start with being with yourself, devote few quiete hours. Get to the root of that feeling. Catagorised it and try to imagine of a better solutions or answers to it all.
Reality check on you've done to make you feel that way and what you can do to make you feel better.

Do it and over time im sure you'll find it all from within because different people has different ways in tackling their own self.
References :
You can always try this, on a mirror you look in every day at least once, say into the mirror - looking right into your eyes, positive things about yourself. Another thing is try to only hang out w/ winners. Positive people. Chances are, positive people will also give you positive affermations about you & that'll be kind of on the same lines as the mirror therapy. Good luck.
References :
Self.
