Learn to tolerate the opinions of others without accepting them as facts & accept the facts when truth is proven! not everyone has the ability to do the above, so they shut-down,walk away or refuse to comment without realizing it's normal to disagree.........I think building confidence is a matter of being comfortable with yourself & those surrounding you-----generally speaking "we all have different thoughts, experiences & opinions' .....just keep in mind when sharing your thoughts, experiences or opinions don't expect others to react or view things your way (be open minded).....in conclusion, once we recognize that not allowing harmful remarks dictate our growth, possibilities are endless!... HOPE THAT HELPS!
References :
What I did was just realize that you need to take the leap. Sit with new people at lunch, or just strike up conversation with the person next to you. You don't need an exciting life to say hi and introduce yourself. I think you might be pleasantly surprised by the stories you will be able to dig from your past to relate to people. Also, people love humor. You don't need to tell knock knock jokes, but just a small joke here and there is great. And if people aren't nice to you the first time, they are not worth it and you just don't click with them, and find someone new. Never doubt yourself, it will show. Most people are not assholes, no matter how many people you seem to meet who treat you bad. Never judge the many by the few. Good luck you can do it. It will be hard at first, but once you take the leap, you will start to build confidence. Also, just trying to talk at least once in every class you are in will help you gain confidence.
References :
You can start by realizing that not all of us have the same taste. You say that you do not have a very exciting life but I would like to challenge that by saying that you do have something to talk about, just share it with people witht the same taste. Always be yourself and remember that you are not the only shy person, there are plenty of us who were shy to express what we feel but there is nothing to be shy of. Some people might not like you for doing that (which is completly normal) but at the same time, people will like you for who you are and being authentic.
